A South African male charged with the offence of importation of a controlled drug

A South African male has been formally charged with the importation of a controlled drug. Mr. Kenton Weisner, a 24-year-old South African national, was charged by the Supreme Court on Monday, 25th August. He was intercepted at Seychelles International Airport on August 8, 2025, after arriving on an Air Seychelles flight from Johannesburg. Customs and Police officers seized 17,805.20 grams of herbal cannabis found in his possession. The court has remanded Mr. Weisner in police custody for another 14 days.

Additionally, a 27-year-old British national was brought before the Supreme Court on the same day and has also been remanded for 14 days in police custody. This individual is under investigation for charges related to the importation of a controlled drug, conspiracy to import a controlled drug, and conspiracy to traffic a controlled drug. He was intercepted at Seychelles International Airport after arriving on a flight from Addis Ababa on August 22, 2025, and several packages suspected of containing a controlled drug were seized from him.
