The Republic of Seychelles is poised to witness an extraordinary and historical moment with the upcoming inauguration of its Sixth President. This event marks the beginning of a new chapter, fueled by a renewed sense of unity and national purpose as the nation looks toward its 50th Anniversary of Independence on June 29, 2026.
A Mandate Forged on the Ground
The resounding victory of Dr Patrick Herminie and Sebastien Pillay in the Presidential election on October 11, 2025, is the result of four years of dedicated, grassroots engagement.
Their campaign story is a powerful testament to direct democracy: the leaders embarked on an ambitious journey, walking through all 26 districts across Mahé, Praslin, and the Inner Islands. They went door-to-door, listening intently to the concerns and hopes of the Seychellois people. They saw the cries of families and witnessed the pain and suffering of thousands of households. This extensive engagement directly informed their political manifesto, aptly titled, “For the many, not the few.”
Assuming Executive Responsibilities
The inauguration will see both Dr Herminie and Mr Pillay swear to uphold the Constitution of the Republic of Seychelles.
On October 26, 2025, the President will officially assume the Executive Authority, tasked with translating their hard-earned political manifesto into tangible policies. This new administration promises to better the lives of every Seychellois and propel the nation to new heights.
The country is currently experiencing a wave of renewed enthusiasm and motivation to move forward in unity and harmony, focused on rebuilding Seychelles for the better. This historical transition, timed perfectly with the lead-up to the golden jubilee of the Republic, signals a hopeful future for Seychelles.
A Call for National Unity
I humbly call on each patriotic citizen of our country to march forward in the spirit of “Sesel I pli gran ki noutou”.
As the 4th President of the Republic of Seychelles, I wish both President Patrick Herminie and Vice President Sebastien Pillay my unwavering support to unify our people and in this noble mission to fulfil the political manifesto “For the many, not the few.”
Danny Faure
4th President of the Republic of Seychelles.
