The Francophone Electoral Mission meets the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism

The Francophone Electoral Mission (MEF) of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), currently in the country to monitor the presidential and legislative elections, began its series of meetings with stakeholders in the electoral process with a courtesy visit to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Mr. Sylvestre Radegonde, on Tuesday, September 23, at the Maison Quéau de Quinssy, Mont Fleuri.

During this meeting, the head of the mission, former French Ambassador André Parant, briefly explained to Minister Radegonde the work they intend to carry out during his eight-day mission. In accordance with tradition, the mission will publish a preliminary report within 24 hours of the close of voting, followed by a full report to be presented at the next Francophone Ministerial Conference to be held in November in Kigali, Rwanda.

Minister Radegonde expressed his deep gratitude to the OIF for responding favourably to the Electoral Commission’s invitation to deploy a team for the general elections and reaffirmed Seychelles’ pride in being part of the great Francophone family. Ambassador Parant is leading a team of eight people.

The observers then discussed with Minister Radegonde the practical organisation of the elections in Seychelles, with the aim of better understanding the institutional and logistical framework surrounding this process.
