Cuban Resident Ambassador meets new Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs

The Cuban Resident Ambassador, H.E. Mrs. Martha Hernandez Caneiro, paid a courtesy call on the Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ian Madeleine, on Wednesday, 03 September at Maison Quéau de Quinssy.

Ambassador Hernandez Caneiro opened the meeting by congratulating Ambassador Madeleine on his recent appointment as Principal Secretary and expressed her hopes for continued collaboration during his tenure.

They touched on existing fields where the two countries were already collaborating on such as health, arts and culture, noting that there was a lot of potential to widen the areas of partnership, namely in the field of sports.

Ambassador Caneiro reiterated Cuba’s appreciation towards Seychelles for consistently standing by its position for the embargo on Cuba, imposed by the United States of America, to be lifted.

Seychelles and Cuba established diplomatic relations in April 1978.
