On 25 August 2025, the Ministry of Local Government successfully conducted a Gender-Based Violence Training Program specifically for District Administrators and media representatives. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Mike Morel, Principal Secretary for the Family Department.
The program featured impactful speakers, including Ms. Wahida Gobin, the Legal Officer at the Seychelles Human Rights Commission, a representative from the Attorney General’s Office, and counsellor Ms. Naomi Vidot.
Key stakeholders attended the event, including Mrs. Linda William-Melanie, Principal Secretary for Social Affairs, along with District Administrators and media members.
The Commission delivered a compelling presentation centred on the rights of survivors within national and international human rights frameworks, the responsibilities of duty bearers, and best practices essential for upholding dignity, equality, and ensuring access to justice in the response to gender-based violence.
