Phoenix Beverages Limited (PBL), a subsidiary of IBL Ltd and the leading beverage company in Mauritius, is pleased to announce that its subsidiary based in Réunion Island, Edena Boissons, will officially begin the production and distribution of Coca-Cola products in 2026.
As an exclusive bottling partner of The Coca-Cola Company in Mauritius for over 70 years, PBL has steadily grown its presence across the Indian Ocean region. The acquisition of Edena Boissons in 2017 marked a strategic milestone in this development. Since then, PBL has made significant investments to modernise Edena’s operations, enhancing production capabilities, integrating sustainable practices, creating employment opportunities, and contributing to local economic development in Réunion Island.
As part of this new phase, Edena Boissons will be outfitted with a state-of-the-art bottling line, expanded storage infrastructure, and an improved distribution model, enabling the company to meet the globally recognised quality standards of The Coca-Cola Company. This upgraded facility, backed by extensive technical and operational expertise, will significantly strengthen local production and better cater to consumer expectations in Réunion. Additionally, Edena plans to evaluate the potential integration of experienced personnel from prior operations to align with evolving operational needs.
This multi-million-euro investment underlines Phoenix Beverages’ long-term commitment to its partnership with The Coca-Cola Company and its dedication to the sustainable economic growth of Réunion Island. The project aims to expand the local Coca-Cola portfolio and bring the brand closer to consumers by tailoring offerings to local market preferences.
The transition is expected to yield positive socio-economic outcomes, including the creation of new jobs, stimulation of local economic activity, and the adoption of more environmentally responsible production practices, aligning with PBL’s sustainability agenda under the Phoenix Earth Initiative.
“At Phoenix Beverages Group, such milestones represent more than just technical investments; they reflect our strategic commitment to regional excellence, innovation, and sustainable growth. Entrusting Coca-Cola production in Réunion to Edena Boissons demonstrates our ambition to deliver world-class beverages while actively contributing to the local economy. This initiative supports the broader ‘IBL Beyond Borders’ strategy by accelerating our vision of building an integrated, future-facing regional network closer to the end consumer. It is not merely about scale, but about creating long-term value, reinforcing our leadership, and strengthening inter-island partnerships,” said Bernard Theys, CEO of Phoenix Beverages.
This development marks a significant step in Phoenix Beverages Group’s regional expansion and operational integration, reinforcing its leadership across Mauritius, Seychelles, and Réunion Island.
During the transition, PBL and Edena Boissons remain fully committed to ensuring a seamless and positive experience for consumers, customers, and partners across Réunion.
Additionally, in a parallel strategic move to strengthen its regional presence, Phoenix Beverages Group announced in April the acquisition of Diageo’s majority shareholding in Seychelles Breweries Ltd. The transaction is expected to be completed on July 1, 2025.
