Brandon Labrosse, the rising star of Seychellois football

At just 26 years old, Brandon Labrosse has established himself as one of the key figures in Seychellois football.
Born on March 11, 1999, in Victoria, he plays as a forward, primarily as a right winger for Foresters Football Club,
where he has been since January 2018. But it is also under the national team colours that Labrosse has made a name
for himself. Since making his international debut on September 5, 2019, against Rwanda, he has earned 30 caps and
scored 4 goals for Seychelles.
In June 2025, Labrosse reached a new milestone by answering the national coach's call to represent Seychelles in
the Beach Soccer World Cup, held for the first time on Seychellois soil. It was a bold move for a player used to
traditional 11-a-side football—but one he embraced with confidence.
“I'm more used to playing on the grass pitch, but when I was offered the chance to represent my country in the
Beach Soccer World Cup, I didn't hesitate. The 11-a-side season had ended, so I took the opportunity,” he said.
Labrosse featured in all three group matches and scored two goals, standing out against high-calibre opponents.
Against Belarus, he scored a crucial goal to temporarily equalise, although Seychelles eventually lost 6–3.
Against Guatemala, he opened the scoring with a powerful shot, but the team fell 4–3 after Guatemalan player
Miguel Gonzalez netted four goals.
Despite the defeats, Labrosse's performances were praised for their intensity and impact, both offensively and
defensively. Wearing the number 8 jersey, he played a central role in the team's dynamics.
Beyond the pitch, this first beach soccer experience left a lasting impression on the young player:
“I learned a lot, both on and off the field. I made new friends, and the whole group was very united throughout
the tournament,” he shared proudly.
He also highlighted the tournament's high level of play, with the participation of top European nations in the
discipline:
“We played against some of the best beach soccer nations. We made the most of it to learn and to make our
country proud.”
Inspired by football legends Messi and Ronaldinho, Brandon Labrosse keeps his feet on the sand but his dreams
on European turf. He aims to become a professional footballer abroad, and sees this World Cup as a springboard to
greater opportunities:
“The level of football in Seychelles is promising, but there's still a lot to improve. I want to keep progressing, and
maybe one day play in Europe.”
Labrosse also hopes that hosting the 2025 Beach Soccer World Cup will not remain an isolated event. For him,
such international competitions can play a key role in boosting local football and inspiring the younger generation.
“This tournament was a great showcase. I hope it won't be the last major event of this kind in Seychelles. The
country needs it.”
Brandon Labrosse embodies a new generation of Seychellois athletes determined to push boundaries and proudly
represent their nation, whether on the grass or in the sand. His versatility, humility, and ambition make him a player
to watch in the years to come.
